Do you want to establish your visibility to the Internet community? I can provide a simple fully navigational web site for you at minimal cost.
If your content is frequently changing and you or your staff can manage the content, you may be able to reduce your web costs by using a CMS. These are easy to manage from a web-based browser. Mary Market Designs will set up either a new site or convert your existing site to a CMS. We use open-source Joomla!® which means lower costs to you than a commercial or custom built CMS.
Need a shopping cart? I use Zen Cart™, an open source shopping cart system. Zen Cart™ is being developed by a group of like-minded shop owners, programmers, designers, and consultants that think eCommerce could be and should be done differently. Zen Cart™ puts the merchants and shoppers requirements first. Zen Cart™ provides an easy-to-use admin tool, so shop owners can manage their own web business with minimal help from web professionals.
Zen Cart™ is a low cost solution for your eCommerce. Zen Cart™ may not be suitable for your marketing strategy. Other commercial packages are available at higher cost.
Are you setting up a new business? Do you need a logo, business cards, letterhead, or other forms designed with your new look and feel? Maybe you are revamping your old look, but want to retain your existing image. I can do it. I'll also work with your printers to assure the required file formats are provided. I also print (in low quantity) standard publications (1200 dpi color laser prints) on selected stock.
While you are free to use any host you like, I can host your site on a shared server for a monthly fee. Shared servers are not recommended for CMS or shopping carts.
Any eCommerce or site with forms should be monitored and maintained. This is what should be done to maintain web site health:
1) Check the log files to see if there were security attacks and if so, how they have been dealt with. Security attacks include shell access attempts, SMTP server abuse (SPAM), abuse of mail sending scripts, database attacks, etc.
2) Check disk space.
3) Renew domain registry and security certificates.
4) Watch security vulnerability reports for all eCommerce and CMS software and modules.
5) Monitor webmaster and hostmaster e-mail.
6) Pay the hosting provider's bills and other recurring costs or notify they are due, if client paid.
A site that is not maintained is vulnerable to hackers. In effect, business partners who do not have their web site maintained, are risking a down time of several days or more. Some hosts shut your website down when it has been hacked. We (Mary Market Designs and any subcontractors) are not responsible for lost business due to security issues. Please let me know if you want me to maintain your site. Maintenance is NOT included in Hosting, and I maintain sites hosted by other providers. I charge $45 (static) and $65 (CMS, eCommerce or site with Forms or other server-side applications) per hour for maintenance service. I charge $65 per hour for restoring a site that has been taken down by outside attacks. The best plan is prevention.
I work exclusively by written agreements so we both understand what is expected. Work can be added at an additional cost by a change or add order.
If I haven't wrapped your mind around it here, please let me know. If you have a special design or print request, I'll make it happen. I have access to a network of designers and web developers. If I can't do it, I'll help you find someone who can.
